在香港中文大学（深圳）2023年本科生毕业典礼上的讲话

各位家长、各位朋友，女士们、先生们：
大家早上好！今天这个毕业典礼来之不易，这是疫情结束后在校园里恢复举办的第一场毕业典礼。今天我能够在这里看到每一位毕业生的笑脸，和每一个毕业生的家庭一同分享喜悦与幸福，感到特别高兴！这是久违了的喜悦与兴奋！今天除了2023届的全体毕业生及亲友，我们还邀请了过去三年因为疫情的原因不能返回学校参加毕业典礼的校友们，让我们欢迎他们！很高兴你们可以重回校园，在美丽的校园里，在老师与亲友的环绕下重新拥抱属于自己人生的重要时刻！在此，我谨代表大学向每一位毕业生表示衷心的祝贺！同时，我想请到场的每一位家长亲友起立，让我们给他们鼓掌，感谢他们在这不平凡的日子里给我们的支持、厚爱和鼓励。
Dearfriends，whenwecelebratetheachievementofthisgraduatingclass，wedosoinrecognitionofthosewhohavededicatedhardwork，expertise，careandloveeachstepoftheway.Deargraduates，youyourselvesonlyknowthedepthofgratitudeyouowetothosewhohavenurturedyourtalent，cherishedyourdreams，inspired，lovedandsupportedyouwhenyouneededitthemost.Itmightbemembersofthefacultyandstaff，mightbeyourfriendsandlovedones，oranyonewhohaswalkedwithyouanextramile.Givethankstothemandacknowledgethepositiveimpactthey’vemadeinyourlife.
Deargraduates，youhadbarelyfinishedyourfirstsemesteratuniversitywhenthepandemicstruck，andnobodywouldhavethoughtitwasgoingtolastsolong.Ican’tdescribeinwordshowgladIamthatinthelastmonthsofyouruniversitylife，youwereabletofinallyattendlectures，hangoutwithfriends，andexperienceseniorevents.Buteventhoughwearereclaimingourlifetoalargeextent，eventhoughthecrisisisover，thevirusanditspotentialthreatsarestillwithus.Afterthreewholeyearsandahalf，humanitydidnotmanagetoeliminatethecoronavirusfromthisearth，butwesucceededinfiguringoutourwaytoco-existwithit.Andthisrelatestothefirstpointofmyspeechtoday，thatis，inlife，wedon’toftensucceedinmakingtroubledisappear，butlearningtolivewiththetroublemightbethetruersolution.
Itcouldbethatirritatingroommateofyoursorthatinsufferablecolleaguelaterinworkplace；itcouldbeaphysicalimperfectionthatcannotbehelped；itcouldbeanundesirablesocialphenomenonthatyoudailywitness.Onfirstthought，itappearseasiertosimplymakewhateveryoudislike，whateverhurtsandannoysusdisappear，thenyouwillbehappyagain.Underthisfalseillusion，youaretemptedtomakeill-informeddecisions.Whenyourroommateannoysyou，youmovetoanotherroom.Whenjobgetstough，youquitjob.Whenrelationshipsgetbumpy，youputanendtoit.Ofcoursewehavearighttosuchch
